I haven't drawn in over a year, just lack of motivation vs the time it takes to draw stuff. Also I found a stable job in between and have some new hobbies so art has been on a big standstill. If I ever feel like drawing again, I'll update. Have a nice day.

All this Eclipse stuff that's going on atm with DeviantArt is reminding me of what I've been taught on this last semester, specifically on one subject called Human-Machine Interaction. It teaches one about how to properly design an interface, how to test that interface, from paper to reality, and what mistakes to avoid.

I don't really care about the interface change as I only use DA as a backup. FA is still my primary artpage. You may have noticed I haven't posted anything here in over a year. It's not because I am dead, it's because I lack motivation, and also because I haven't been drawing as much, even though I really should.

However, Eclipse is everything counter to what I've been taught in this subject. The biggest problem is there's no familiarity between the old interface and the new.

Every iteration must improve on the last, and every iteration needs constant user testing and application of nielsen heuristics. I've been trying to find the create journal button here, my instinct was to check my journal square. No button. Then I checked the top bar, specifically my icon. No button. I was meant to hover over submit and then create journal. This isn't because I'm a dumbass, it's because I was accustomed to the old interface. Personally I would add a create journal button on that square, just for familliarity's sake. This is just one of the familliarity issues I've come across here.

FA also changed their interface a while back, and they actually paid attention to familiarity, all functionality is mostly where it was, while adding new features and granting a more modern visual look. It seems like DA largely ignored user input because they think their ideas are more correct than ours. That's imposing ideas, not actually improving the website.

Honestly I get why people are mad, too much change can rile up the userbase. The best thing is to slowly iterate and always use user input to decide what changes are actually needed. DA failed at this, and now I see a lot of users plotting to leave. Hopefully they will iterate on eclipse and make it better rather than worse.

I am not an expert in this subject, in fact I barely studied it and I got an exam in ~6 weeks. But I know enhough to see what could be done better, and just wanted to give my opinion based on what I learned. Sorry if I'm not the brightest tool on the shed, but ehhhhh.

I am still alive in FA, just haven't bothered to update Deviantart in a longass time.

Almost done with University on my end, and companies are starting to call me for employment. Here's hoping.
